Local Author Bruce Rubin, writing under the pen

name Vincenzo Spiaggi, has published his seventeenth work of fiction, “The Girl in the Pecan Grove,” which is the fifteenth book in The Johnny Skull Series. “The Girl in the Pecan Grove” is the sequel to the 2023 novel, “Fulcrum.” His book talk and signing will be at the West Winfield Library on Wednesday, September 18 at 6:30 pm.

The American Red Cross is holding a blood drive 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. this Thursday, Sept. 19, at the Herkimer College Robert McLaughlin Center!

Join us for the first gathering of the season at the Ilion Little Theater on Thursday, September 19, 2024 at 6:30 p.m. for a "Talk Like a Pirate" Picnic gathering.

It's International Talk Like a Pirate Day, so why not? Join us for some fun with "Musical Islands" and risk a walk on the plank if you dare! Hot dogs, hamburgers, rolls, and fix'ins provided by the board of directors. bring a dish, dessert, or your favorite beverage to share if you like.

On September 20, the Community Foundation of Herkimer and Oneida Counties and UpMobility Foundation will host the third annual “Mohawk Valley Gives,” a 24-hour community-wide giving day to benefit nonprofit organizations serving the Mohawk Valley.

During last year’s giving day, the community came together and raised more than $2.4 million benefiting over 250 local organizations and we can't wait to see the outcome and growth in year three!

Participating nonprofits can promote their mission, raise unrestricted dollars to support their organization's needs, and be placed in the running for several prizes and incentives that will be awarded throughout the giving day.

Donors will have the opportunity to engage with local causes they care about by sponsoring prizes, starting a fundraiser to share with friends, family, and colleagues, or simply making a donation to one or more participating organizations on the big day!

Whatever part you play, YOU will help us make a difference. Join us on September 20 to show everyone that Mohawk Valley Gives! 

"Tales & Tunes" Pre-School Play Group

Fridays from 11:00-12:00.

This Program is designed for children from birth to 4 years old. It is facilitated by Joanne Zimkowski, Family School Navigator, for the Dolgeville School District.

It is free and open to the public, no prior registration is needed. The program follows the regularly scheduled school days but if school is closed or cancelled so is this program.

This Friday, September 20th, we will learn why leaves change colors.

This year, we’re celebrating not only our rich history but also the incredible journey of Lambert Will, the true inventor of basketball. He’s on the ballot for the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame Class of 2025 and was just inducted into the NYS Basketball Hall of Fame!

Whether you're a seasoned golfer or just looking for a great time with friends, come out and support a piece of history. It’s going to be a fantastic day on the greens with plenty of laughs, great company, and a chance to honor Herkimer’s legendary contribution to sports.

Driver's Meeting will be at 1030am on both days.

REMEMBER this race is part of the Pro Stock 1000 and Pro Stock 800 Points Series (The SnowStuds ProStock Championship Series).

There are a few pieces of information we want to make everyone aware of for the weekend.

1. For those of you traveling many hours for this event, we are allowing people to come on site Thursday if you'd like. We are allowing campers on site with no hookups. For those of you who have a camper and would like all the hookups, there is a local campground approximately 5 minutes away from the track. 2. We ask that all racers and their pit crew enter through Gate #1 (there will be a sign out by the road). Once you have paid and signed the waiver you will be directed where to park. Please listen to the people directing you where to park and follow their direction. We are trying to keep the pits organized and get the most room out of the area. We want to eliminate the chaos and people just parking where ever.

3. We are working on the layout of the race schedule for the weekend and will update everyone when that has been finalized.

4. We will be selling food and drinks at concession stands on the spectator and racer sides of the track.

5. We will be walking around all weekend with a 50/50 raffle, as well as some other raffle it

We are excited to announce our very first Community Pickleball Tournament on September 28th at our Lakefront Courts with a 10:00am start!

After the tremendous success of last year's Oktoberfest, the CAA is excited to announce another festive celebration at the George T. Hiltebrant Center this year. 

Get ready for an even more spectacular event with hay rides, delicious drinks and food, lively dancing, fabulous costumes, a variety of vendors, festive pumpkins, games, crafts, and much more! Stay tuned for further details on what promises to be a bigger and better Oktoberfest than ever before! 

Although it’s only August, we would like to start planning for an upcoming Fall Festival in Weller Park- October 27th (Sunday) from 4-8PM. FREE family friendly fun, open to any/ all and costumes are highly recommended as prizes/ candy will be given!

If vendors would like to host a table during this event, we are asking $20 per table and to have candy available for trick or treaters. Either cash or checks payable to the “Village of Mohawk” will be accepted, and can be mailed or dropped off to “124 west main st in Mohawk” by October 20th. *please leave name, contact info and description of trade/ buisness so that we can also help promote your participation.

Also, seeking any interested food vendors, music and/ or other talents that would like to come and join the fun! *please PM to inquire and secure your spot.

White’s Pottery is pleased to once again participate in the Herkimer County Arts & Crafts Fair, the “Premier Fair of the Mohawk Valley,” on Saturday November 9th from 10 am to 5 pm.

“This long-established fine arts and crafts fair, presented by the Herkimer County College Foundation, is one of the largest and most well-respected in the region. The juried show is set to feature over 100 top artisans showcasing their works including pottery, gourmet foods, woodworking, textiles, weaving, jewelry, and more.”

Admission is $5. (Cash only) Children under 5 are free. In honor of Veteran’s Day weekend, veterans and active military members (with ID) are free. Food services will be available in the dining center.

Those who have signed up have already donated an extra $132 on top of their registration fees. ALL donations go to the Food Pantry.
