This 6 week hand building class is perfect for students with little to no pottery experience as well as those looking to ... ↓ moreThis 6 week hand building class is perfect for students with little to no pottery experience as well as those looking to challenge themselves with new and more difficult projects. Each week instructor, Danielle Powers, will cover a different hand building technique along with texturing and decorating options. Take the full 6 week class or just the techniques you are interested in. Class will run from 5pm-8pm every Thursday from April 24th through May 29th. 2 hours of open studio time is available from 3pm-5pm on Thursdays, before class, to practice the techniques learned or finish up any projects from the week before.Week 1 - Building with Soft Slabs - Using hump and slump molds, pleated forms.Week 2 - Building with Firm Slabs - Making box shapes, slipping and scoring techniques.Week 3 - Pinch Pots - Creating forms from pinch pots.Week 4 - Coil Building - Using hand formed coils and/or extruded coils to create different forms.Week 5 - Student Choice - Work on whatever hand building form or technique you choose.Week 6 - Glazing Day - How to properly use studio glazes to finish the pieces that have been created throughout the class. Kids 14 and up are welcome to attend. No previous pottery experience is required.Materials are included in the cost of the class as well as the first 10 firing tickets.
