The Early Intervention Program
The Early Intervention Program provides evaluations and services to children birth to three. The program serves children who are at risk for delay, diagnosed with developmental delay or have a diagnosed mental or physical condition with a high probability of delay. Services are provided to help children grow and develop and to support families. The EI program provides services to eligible children in the areas of special instruction, speech, occupational and physical therapies, service coordination, and assistive technology. Families in the Early Intervention program are provided with assistance in transition from Early Intervention to preschool programs and are given support with referrals and access to needed resources and services. Services are free of charge to families. Referrals into the program can be made by caregivers, families, educators, and by your child’s pediatrician. To send the Early Intervention Program a referral your pediatrician can utilize the NYS DOH Early Intervention Program Referral document.
