A group will meet in the shared parking lot of the Old Forge Library and Niccolls Memorial Presbyterian Church, located at 220 Crosby Boulevard.This is an easy and healthy way to engage in conversation, strengthen community ties, and support overall physical well-being. A group leader will be present each week to help guide the walk, and both pace and distance can be adjusted to ensure that all participants feel comfortable and included. Some folks walk further than others.Individuals of all ages and fitness levels are welcome to join, whether they are experienced walkers or just beginning a walking routine.The Walk & Talk series was established collaboratively by Niccolls Nurses and the Old Forge Library. From the outset, both organizations recognized the value of encouraging movement and fostering meaningful connections within the community. Participant Margo Boylan shared her enthusiasm for the program, stating, “It is so nice to have a time set aside to walk and catch up with neighbors, and there is always someone new to talk to.” Walking in a group setting provides numerous health benefits. It can help lower blood pressure, reduce the risk of chronic disease, support a healthy weight, strengthen bones, improve cardiovascular health, enhance mental wellness, relieve stress, and contribute to overall happiness.
